Week 2A: Overview of Social Media
I believe Instagram is geared most towards personal use. Out of all of the social media platforms, I personally find myself using this platform the most. When users are on Instagram they are posting pictures, watching videos, direct messaging other users, uploading stories, etc. Instagram is intended to be seen visually, and it creates a highlight reel of others personal lives. Also, users post videos of things they’re doing in the moment. This allows everyone to keep in touch with their followers throughout their day to day lives.
As for social media platforms for business, I believe LinkedIn seems most suitable. Most businesses can be found on this platform, and most users can interact with them! There are constant updates within the world of business, and there are constant job updates being listed. Although this isn’t the perfect platform for small businesses, I believe it’s growing as the rest of social media and it has potential to get there.
However, the social media platform that performs on both accounts would be Facebook. As discussed in, Likeable Social Media, the most powerful marketing tool is word of mouth. There are hundreds of users on Facebook, and this means there are also hundreds of people to make recommendations to each other! Businesses can create their own accounts for other users to like and share amongst other users, as well. On the other side of the spectrum, users use Facebook for personal use daily. Content constantly contains personal pictures being shared, opinions, personal stories, meme’s of the day, etc. It’s a key platform to keep in touch with others in your life, and it makes it possible to spread the love for businesses you can’t get enough of by liking their page or posting a recommendation!

Hi Cassandra, I'm Eva! I enjoyed reading your post. I had a very similar opinion about which platforms were best for business and which which were best for personal use. I love the look of your blog, by the way!
ReplyDeleteHello, Cassandra. I agree with your assertion that Facebook is suitable for both personal use and business purposes such as advertising products and attracting potential clients. For example, I have noticed that in addition to small businesses, big corporations and even musical groups have a presence on Facebook. I also agree that LinkedIn is probably the most suitable social media site for business networking and finding a job. Anyway, the assertions in your post were quite logical and backed up with decent explanations. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteHi Cassandra. Your post was very similar to mine. With Facebook having more than a billion users, it’s no doubt that the platform can be used for personal and business. I’ve never been introduced to LinkedIn, but I have heard that it’s more for larger businesses. What do you think would be more appropriate for a smaller business to use other than Facebook? Thanks for the read. Great job on this post!
